COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s lacrosse alumni Anthony Kelly and Logan Schuss have been named to the Team MLL roster for the 2014 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game. The 24 players selected will face Team USA, including former Buckeye Kevin Buchanan, at 7:30 p.m. June 26 at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Mass.
Kelly, a faceoff specialist for the Denver Outlaws, will be appearing in his fifth All-Star Game and his second in a row as a member of the Outlaws (2008-10, 2013). He has won 85-of-155 faceoffs through the first six games of the season, ranking third in the league (minimum 20 faceoff attempts) with a .548 faceoff winning percentage. Kelly is first in MLL history with 1,325 faceoff wins and has played in the MLL since 2006.
Ohio Machine attackman Schuss, a finalist for MLL Rookie of the Year in 2013, will be making his first All-Star Game appearance. He has played in four games for the Ohio Machine this season, with 11 goals, five assists and 16 points, including a club-record eight points against Boston Friday. A Buckeye from 2010-13, Schuss holds the Machine record for career goals.
Buchanan, who began his MLL career in 2008 after four years as a Buckeye (2005-08), has appeared in three MLL All-Star Games (2010, 2012-13). He was named to the Team USA 30-man roster in February and will take part in Team USA’s training camp June 22-26, which concludes with the MLL All-Star Game. Another training camp follows in July and 23 members of the Team USA roster will be named to the active roster for the FIL World Championship (July 10-19 in Denver).
