April 18, 2012
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The fifth-annual Showdown in the Shoe, hosted by Ohio State men’s lacrosse each April, is just three days away. The game, which has set national attendance records, precedes the LiFE Sports Football Spring Game in Ohio Stadium Saturday. The Buckeye lacrosse squad will host Air Force at 11 a.m. in an ECAC Lacrosse League contest.
More than 40,000 tickets have been presold for the doubleheader, while Ohio State students (with BuckID) and children 6 and under will receive free admission. Prepurchased tickets are $7 each, with tickets purchased on game day $15 (cash only). Tickets can be purchased through OhioStateBuckeyes.com or Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 800-745-3000, in person at the Ohio State Athletic Ticket Office in the Jerome Schottenstein Center or at participating Donato’s restaurants in Central Ohio.
BTN will televise the game live, with Ohio State appearing on the network for the second-consecutive week. Ohio State and Air Force were the first live men’s lacrosse game televised by the network when it covered the 2010 Showdown in the Shoe. That event drew an NCAA on-campus regular-season mark of 31,078 in 2010 when the Buckeyes downed the Falcons.
Parking for the doubleheader is free in all open lots. The West Stadium lot requires a pass and the East Stadium lot is for disability parking. Gates will open at 10 a.m. West campus shuttles will begin running at 9 a.m. with a full complement of eight shuttles running by 10 a.m.
The Best Damn Band in the Land will perform no less than five times in Ohio Stadium Saturday: pregame and halftime of the lacrosse match; pregame national anthem before the football game; a 10-minute halftime show at the football game; and post-football game.
Ohio State men’s lacrosse alumni will form a Tunnel of Pride for the 2012 squad to run through as they hit the field for the game.
