COLUMBUS, Ohio – Michael Italiano, a junior on the No. 8-ranked Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, has been named the ECAC Specialist of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The native of Waxhaw, N.C., picked up eight groundballs and caused a turnover in the team’s 11-10 win at Virginia Saturday.
A d-middie, Italiano’s eight groundballs were a career high, topping his four career games with three groundballs (last March 9 vs. Denver). He also had a caused turnover late in the fourth quarter vs. the Cavaliers. His wing play helped the Buckeyes win 12 faceoffs in the victory at UVa.
Italiano has played in all six games this season and has 15 groundballs, with 14 in the last three games combined, along with a two-goal game vs. Denver March 9.
