Columbus, Ohio- The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team will be participating in a Grow the Game initiative beginning this spring, joining with lacrosse programs across central Ohio in the quest to increase participation in the sport.
“We’re excited to get out in the Columbus lacrosse community,” Nick Myers, Ohio State head coach, said. “Our goal is to continue the growth of lacrosse in Central Ohio by helping to develop and inspire young men through our Grow the Game initiative.”
The Buckeyes were approached by youth and middle school lacrosse teams in Worthington, Dublin, Hilliard, Powell and Upper Arlington about holding these educational programs to help foster growth of the sport throughout the area. Ohio State will host a one-hour demonstration and clinic with its own players and staff in all of these communities.
The Grow the Game initiative will be a way to continue the growth of lacrosse in Ohio, more specifically Central Ohio.
Lacrosse is now an OHSAA sanctioned sport for the 2017 season. This recognition is a pivotal point for lacrosse in the state of Ohio and in general as it is currently one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
