COLUMBUS, Ohio – Erik Evans, a junior defenseman on the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, has been named Big Ten co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Evans, from Baldwin, Md., and a graduate of Calvert Hall, Evans led the Buckeyes' defensive effort in their 8-7 win over Massachusetts Saturday in Ohio Stadium. With the Buckeyes holding a one-goal lead with less than 20 seconds left in regulation, he was able to force UMass into a turnover to seal the Ohio State victory. Evans had a groundball and a shot in the victory. On the year he has two groundballs and a team-best four caused turnovers.
Evans and the No. 20-ranked Buckeyes (3-0) close their four-game homestand at noon Saturday when they host Jacksonville in Ohio Stadium.
