Mark Bergey is in his third season as the director of operations for the Buckeyes after spending 2009 as Ohio State's volunteer assistant coach.

Bergey served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Western New England College, for two seasons prior to joining the Buckeyes. In 2008 the squad was ranked in the Top 10 the majority of the season and the Bears ended the 2007 campaign ranked third nationally. The team made the NCAA tournament quarterfinals both years Bergey was on the staff.

Bergey was a four-year standout for the Golden Bears, serving as the team's captain in 2006 and helping lead the squad to ECAC Division III New England championships in 2004 and '05. Bergey, who was named the team's Unsung Hero in both 2003 and '05, was a two-time All-Pilgrim League selection and played in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game.

A native of Ambler, Pa., Bergey earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from WNEC in 2006.
