With Dobbins on staff, the Buckeyes won the 2013 ECAC Tournament and 2014 ECAC regular season championships and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2013. The program's offensive coordinator, he mentored Buckeyes to two ECAC Offensive Player of the Year awards, two ECAC Rookie of the Year accolades, six All-America honors, 10 all-conference nods and two league all-rookie team mentions.
Dobbins spearheaded the program's community service efforts, with the team volunteering more than 1,800 hours in the last three years combined. In addition, he oversaw the Buckeyes' efforts in the classroom. The program was outstanding academically during his tenure, with 21 Ohio State Scholar-Athletes in 2013-14 alone.
Dobbins joined the Buckeyes after serving six years as an assistant coach at Salisbury University (Md.) with one of the most successful collegiate men's lacrosse programs in the country. The 2005 Division III Assistant Coach of the Year, he served on the staff at Salisbury from 2003-09. The Sea Gulls won four Division III National Championships and were a national runner-up once during Dobbins' tenure. He coached 47 All-Americans, including 19 at midfield, and five national players of the year. Prior to joining the Salisbury staff, Dobbins coached two seasons at the middle and high school levels in New York.
Dobbins was a four-year letter winner at Colgate University. The Webster, N.Y., native earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Colgate in 2001 and his master's degree in education from Salisbury in 2005. He taught high school mathematics at two Salisbury-area high schools for five years.
Dobbins and his wife, Erin, live in Columbus. They are the parents of the late Colleen, who passed away in March 2011, Maura, who was born in May 2012, and Claire, who was born in November 2013.
