COLUMBUS, Ohio --
Tanner Laczynski, a sophomore forward on the No. 16-ranked Ohio State men's hockey team, has been named NCAA First Star and Big Ten Second Star of the Week after leading the Buckeyes to a sweep of Robert Morris in a home-and-home series. Laczynski, from Shorewood, Ill., had five points, with three goals and two assists, and a +5 mark in the series.

Friday against Robert Morris in Columbus, Laczynski had a goal and two assists for three points, his second consecutive three-point outing. He scored a goal in the first period and then had the primary assist on Matthew Weis' gamewinner with one minute left in the second period. He also set up Austin Pooley's goal late in the third for a two-goal cushion, leading to the Buckeyes' 5-3 win. Saturday on the road against the Colonials, Laczynski scored the gamewinner, breaking a 1-1 tie, with 2:31 left in regulation and sealed the 3-1 win with an empty net goal in the final 10 seconds. He was +5 in the series, with a +3 mark in game two.

Laczynski, a Philadelphia Flyers draft pick, has a 3-6-9 line on the year, with all nine points coming in his last four games. He has had a hand on each gamewinning goal in the Buckeyes' four-game winning streak, with a goal and two primary assists.

Two more Buckeyes were highlighted by the NCAA after the series vs. Robert Morris, with a goal by freshman Eugene Fadyeyev (the first of his career), set up by senior Matthew Weis with a no-look, behind the back pass, named the NCAA Top Play of the Week.
