Buckeye Forward Nick Oddo Named Big Ten First Star of the Week
Oct. 29, 2013
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Nick Oddo, a junior forward on the Ohio State men's hockey team, has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27, the Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday. Each week throughout the 2013-14 season, the Big Ten will name a first star, second star and third star to honor top individual performers from across the conference.
An Omaha, Neb., native, Oddo had three points to help lead the Buckeyes to a home-and-home series sweep of Robert Morris. He was the only Big Ten player to register multiple goals on the weekend. Oddo matched his career high with three points in the Buckeyes' come-from-behind win Friday in Columbus, as he and linemates Travis Statchuk and Matt Johnson combined for three goals and eight points. Oddo's first goal against the Colonials cut the Buckeyes' deficit to 2-1 and he then scored the go-ahead goal early in the second period for a 3-2 Ohio State advantage. He was +3 in the game to match his career best.
Oddo is the first Ohio State player to be named a Big Ten Star of the Week.
Ohio State hosts three games this week, taking on Bowling Green Tuesday and Minnesota Duluth Friday and Saturday. The puck drops each night at 7:05 p.m. in Value City Arena.
