Major: Marketing

Travis Statchuk, a senior on the Ohio State men's hockey team from Wadena, Saskatchewan, is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice as a marketing major. He has skated in 73 games for the Scarlet and Gray and has two goals, 10 assists and 12 points in his career while also playing a major role on the penalty killing unit. Statchuk, who wore the captain's C in a number of series as a junior, helps lead the Buckeye program into a new era as men's hockey joins the Big Ten Conference this season.

Student Life

    Do you prefer the Oval in the Fall or Spring? Spring, but all the colors of Fall make it look quite appealing.

    Where is the best place to sit for lectures? Of course, right in the front and center...

    Most underrated place to study on campus? Probably in the Oval

    Why did you choose to major in marketing? I have a knack for promotion and sales.

    If you were the University President for a day, what would you do? Class dismissed!

    Describe your first day as a student at The Ohio State University? - A little overwhelming considering I come from Wadena, Saskatchewan, which has a population not much more than 1,000.

    Most interesting place I've visited - I haven't been to many places, but I love Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island Place I would like to visit - Las Vegas

Overtime

    Person I most admire - My dad

    The greatest risk I've ever taken was - Cliff jumping off the top ledge at Copper Island on the Shuswap

    In 10 years, I would like to be - Doing something I love in a place I want to be

    If I had a million dollars, I would - Take my whole family on a much needed vacation and treat the boys to a great night!

    Most prized possession - Being an uncle, if that counts

    Best piece of advice you've received - "If you want to party with the boys, you can wake up early and work with the men"

    If you could have dinner with any 3 people (alive or dead), who would they be and what/where would you eat - My two grandpas and my dad and at my family's cabin. We would share old stories and that would be great now that I'm older.

    If your parents bragged about you, what would they say? - I'm a very nice and charming young man

    Who tweets too much on your team - He's graduated now, but definitely Brady Hjelle

    What is your hometown known for? - Farming and wildlife. We get a lot of hunters, both Canadian and American.
