B1G Holds Hockey Media Day
Sept. 19, 2013
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The inaugural Big Ten Hockey Media Day was held Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., as the conference readies for the first season of men’s hockey as a member sport. All six league head coaches, as well as student-athlete representatives from each team, were on hand to meet with media and television partners.
Steve Rohlik, in his first season as Ohio State’s head coach and a native of Saint Paul, addressed the group of assembled media from the podium, talking about all the benefits of the Big Ten adding hockey, both for the sport and the Buckeye program.
“At Ohio State, when you think of Ohio State athletics, you think of Big Ten. I think the hockey program there, we're just scratching the surface, so I think it's really going to affect our program maybe more than any other. With that being said with the city of Columbus, and the athletics and people who look at athletics down there in Ohio State, what Big Ten and the brand of Big Ten what that can mean to our hockey program is tremendous.”
