COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s hockey program has added six freshmen to the roster for 2017-18, Steve Rohlik, Buckeye head coach, announced. The class joins 19 returnees from last season’s NCAA Tournament team, along with two transfers who are eligible this season after sitting out a season ago.
The rookies include forwards Eugene Fadyeyev and Austin Pooley, defensemen Grant Gabriele and Michael Rounds and goalies Evan Moyse and Tommy Nappier. Of the freshmen, two hail from Ohio and two are Michigan natives, while there is a St. Louis product and a native of Ukraine.

The Buckeyes kick off the season with an exhibition game vs. Ryerson Sept. 30 in Value City Arena. The regular season begins at Wisconsin Oct. 6-7 with a Big Ten series. The regular season home slate opens with games vs. Rensselaer Oct. 13-14.
Ohio State is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and was 21-12-6 overall, with an 11-8-1 mark in Big Ten play, last season. The squad ranked third nationally in scoring offense with 3.92 goals per game and led the NCAA on the power play, converting 31.6 percent of its chances.
