Buckeyes End Year Ranked Third
Ohio State finished third in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. It is the highest finish in both polls for the squad in program history.

The Buckeyes were in the Top 6 of the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings for each of the last 12 polls. The squad moved into the Top 10 in the final rankings of the 2017 calendar year. 

Rohlik National Coach of the Year Runner-Up
Steve Rohlik, head coach of the Buckeyes, was the runner up for the CCM/AHCA Division I Men’s Coach of the Year award, as voted by the members of the coaches association. Rohlik, the Big Ten Coach of the Year, led the Buckeyes to a 26-10-5 record in 2017-18, the program's first Frozen Four berth since 1998 and to a second-place finish in the Big Ten with a 14-8-2 ledger.

Rohlik has led the Buckeyes to back-to-back 20+ win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances. He is 93-73-23 in his five years at the helm.

#ProBucks
Six former Buckeyes skated in the NHL during the 2017-18 campaign - Ryan Dzingel (OTT), Max McCormick (OTT), Ryan Kesler (ANA), Matt Bartkowski (CAL), Zac Dalpe (CBJ) and Tanner Fritz (NYI).

Kesler and the Ducks open the Stanley Cup Playoffs against San Jose Thursday.

Top 10
The Buckeyes wrapped up the year ranked in the Top 10 in the NCAA in penalty killing (1st/.894), scoring defense (3rd/2.07 goals allowed per game), power play (6th/.239) and scoring offense (10th/3.2 goals per game). Ohio State and Minnesota State are the only teams to rank in the Top 10 in all four categories. 

The squad finished the year fifth nationally in winning percentage (.695) and third in wins (26). 

The Buckeyes led the NCAA on the power play last season (.316) and are the only team to lead the NCAA on the power play one season and the penalty kill the next. Maine pulled off the opposite feat, leading the country on the PK in 2006 (.889) and on the PP (.250) the following year. (Both stats are since 1995-96.)

De-Fense!
The Buckeyes held opponents to 2.07 goals per game in 2017-18, the lowest goals-against average in a single season in program history. The previous mark of 2.21 goals allowed per game was set by the 2002-03 squad. This season, the team allowed 85 goals in 41 games, holding opponents to two or fewer goals in 28 games (including in five of seven postseason contests).

On the Offense
The Buckeyes have ranked in the Top 10 in the NCAA in scoring offense each of the last three years and in the Top 15 four of five years under Coach Rohlik. The squad was 10th in the NCAA in 2017-18, averaging 3.2 goals a game. The team had four or more goals in four of seven postseason contests and in 19 games overall.
