COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's gymnastics team was picked fourth in the Big Ten Men's Gymnastics Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced Wednesday. Juniors and co- captains Kris Done and Misha Koudinov were named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch for the second consecutive season.
Michigan was selected as the conference favorite, while defending NCAA National Champion and Big Ten Conference Champion Illinois was picked to finish second. Penn State and Ohio State were chosen to finish third and fourth, respectively. Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa round out the conference preseason picks.
Done, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, earned his second consecutive All-American honor on high bar in 2012 after finishing fifth overall at the NCAA Individual Event Championships last spring in Norman, Okla., having missed the majority of the season due to injury.
Koudinov, also a native of Auckland, New Zealand, earned his first All-American honor last season after tying for third on parallel bars at the NCAA Individual Event Championships. Koudinov, Ohio State's 2012 Sportsmanship honoree, also earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors after scoring a 15.20 on floor exercise to tie for third place and a 15.05 on parallel bars to finish in second place at the conference championships.
The Buckeyes open the 2013 campaign at the Windy City Invitational Jan. 19.
