Dastrup Closes Out Competition at DTB World Cup - Team Challenge

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnastics freshman Jake Dastrup completed competition at the DTB World Cup – Team Challenge this past weekend at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, Germany. The Lindon, Utah, native competed as a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team.
The U.S. team comprised of Akash Modi, Dastrup, Paul Ruggeri and Donnell Whittenburg finished fifth in the qualification round (173.850), narrowly missing an opportunity to qualify for the finals as only the top four teams from the qualification round advanced to the finals on Saturday. Japan earned the top score in qualifying (176.450), followed by China (175.750), Germany (174.700) and Great Britain (174.250).
Dastrup competed on pommel horse and vault for the U.S. National Team, scoring a 13.850 and 14.500 on each event, respectively.
China would go on to win the team title Saturday afternoon, compiling an overall score of 179.200. Japan placed second (177.950), followed by Great Britain who placed third (176.250) and Germany who finished fourth (174.550).
The Buckeyes open the preseason with the annual Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Steelwood Athletic Training Facility.
