COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brandon Wynn opened competition Monday at the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships at the Antwerp Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium.
The former Buckeye scored a 15.700 on rings in the third subdivision qualifying round to earn the highest qualifying score on the event. The Voorhees, N.J., native, will next compete on parallel bars in the fourth subdivision qualifying round Tuesday morning.
The finalists on each event will be determined after the conclusion of the final qualifying subdivision. The apparatus finals for rings will be held Oct. 5, while the apparatus finals for parallel bars will be held Oct. 6.
Wynn is representing Team USA along with Alex Naddour, Jake Dalton, John Orozco, Sam Mikulak and Steven Legendre. The 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships is an individual competition, as medals are only awarded to individuals in the years following the Olympic Games.
