COLUMBUS, Ohio – Danny Steiner, a sophomore on the No. 4 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team, has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award marks the first Big Ten weekly honor for the Mesa, Ariz., native.
Steiner placed within the top three of every event he competed in as the Buckeyes posted a season-best 439.200 in a dual meet win over No. 15 UIC Saturday. He placed first on floor exercise with a 15.70, tied a career-best 14.90 to place second on vault and scored a career-best 14.45 to place third on parallel bars.
An All-American on floor exercise in 2012, Steiner currently ranks No. 4 on the event with a three-score average of 15.45.
The Buckeyes have a bye week before returning to action with a 8 p.m. ET meet at No. 3 Oklahoma March 23.
