COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnastics sophomore Jake Martin has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award marks the first Big Ten Weekly honor for the Oviedo, Fla., native.
Martin won two individual event titles and claimed a second-place overall finish on high bar to lead the No. 4 Buckeyes to a program best team score (440.800) at No. 2 Michigan Saturday afternoon. Martin posted a career-high 15.600 to earn a first-place finish on pommel horse, a career-high 15.300 to tie for first place on vault and a season-high 15.100 to place second overall on high bar. He also notched a season-high 14.600 on rings to finish in the Top 10 on that event.
The Buckeyes return to action Friday, Feb. 14 in a non-conference dual meet against No. 5 California at St. John Arena. The meet is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
