NORMAN, Okla. -- The ninth-ranked Ohio State men's gymnastics team placed fifth overall in the second session of the 2015 NCAA Qualifier Thursday night at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Buckeyes closed the meet with a team score of 427.900.

Senior Drew Moling finished second in the all-around with a personal-best score of 86.850 to lead the Buckeyes. As a team, Ohio State totaled a season-best on floor exercise (72.750) and the second-highest score of the night on parallel bars (71.850). The Scarlet and Gray also posted an impressive 73.750 team total on rings.

No. 1 Oklahoma won the competition with a score of 450.750. No. 4 Michigan and No. 8 Iowa joined the Sooners as team qualifiers for the NCAA championship with scores of 437.000 and 435.050, respectively. No. 5 Illinois was fourth (432.450), followed by the Buckeyes (427.900) and Army (408.500).

Although Ohio State did not qualify as a team, eight athletes qualified for competition tomorrow evening at the team final. Moling will compete in the all-around and will be joined by event qualifiers Alex Johnson, Alexander Wilson, Meyer Williams, Logan Melander, Emeric QuadeSeth Delbridge and Andrew Teal.

"I'm really proud of our guys," Ohio State head coach Rustam Sharipov said after the meet. "It's been a rough year for us in terms of health, but the guys did a good job of handling adversity throughout the season and in the competition.

"I'm very happy Drew qualified for the all-around. His leadership, along with Alex Johnson, has been tremendous this season. Despite not qualifying as a team, we have a number of guys who will compete individually, including three freshmen. They will represent Buckeye Nation well."

Ohio State opened with a 73.750 team score on rings as four of five Buckeyes stuck their landings. Moling led the way with a 15.500, the third-best score of the day. Johnson qualified for team finals with a score of 14.700.

The Buckeyes moved to vault for the second rotation. In spite of an injury substitution of Quade for senior Larry Mayer, Ohio State turned in a 72.900 team score. Delbridge tied his personal-best score and tied for ninth overall with a 14.800. Wilson and Teal tied for 12th with a 14.700. OSU incurred a one-point team deduction for the substitution.

The third rotation featured the Buckeyes on parallel bars. Moling tied for fourth with a 14.800, while Johnson finished in a tie for seventh (14.650). Wilson's 13th-place score of 14.550 was also good for a spot in the team finals.

Johnson led the Buckeyes on the following rotation, high bar. The 2014 Big Ten champion turned in a score of 14.950, tying for fifth place. Moling was 12th with a 14.800. As a team, the Scarlet and Gray totaled a 70.500.

OSU closed on pommel horse with a 67.150. Melander qualified for team finals with a 14th-place tie and score of 14.000.
