2011 (Junior Season): Captured second-career All-America laurel at the 2011 NCAA Championships in Columbus (April 16) with a third-place finish on pommel horse with a 15.25 ... claimed second place on event with a 15.45 at 2011 Big Ten Individual Event Championships in Champaign, Ill., (April 2) to be named a second team All-Big Ten selection ... competed for the Buckeyes in the NCAA Qualifier on pommel horse with a team-high 14.6 in Columbus (April 14) ... notched a team-high 14.65 on the event at the team finals of the Big Ten Championships (April 1) ... claimed a season-high 15.55 vs. Brockport in St. John Arena (Feb. 12) ... competed in all seven regular season meets ... claimed six pommel horse titles in seven regular season meets ... led the team on pommel horse in all 12 meets ... participated in the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas placing second overall in the finals with a 15.0 (Feb. 5) ... ... finished with a NQA of 15.133 on pommel horse for third overall.
2010 (Sophomore Season): Competed in all six dual meets and at the Big Ten and NCAA championships ... hit a career and program-high 15.7 on pommel horse at Michigan (March 20) ... placed 10th on pommel horse at the NCAA qualifier (April 15) in West Point ... represented Buckeyes on pommel horse at Big Ten Championships (April 2) in Columbus ... recorded a team-best 14.8 on the event for fifth place ... scored a 15.325 in conference pommel horse finals (April 3) for second place to earn second team All-Big Ten honors... began the year with a team-best 14.0 on pommel horse at the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 16) ... competed at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas (Feb. 4 and 6) ... followed with a third-place finish on pommel horse with a 14.25 in quad-meet vs. Nebraska, Air Force and UIC (Feb. 21) ... helped the Buckeyes to victory over Penn State with a then-career-high 15.55 on pommel horse (Feb. 27) in Columbus ... had a fourth-place finish on pommel horse to help Ohio State to a program-high 59.0 (March 6) at St. John Arena ... held the second-best score on pommel horse vs. Oklahoma with a 15.3 (March 13).
2009 (Freshman Season): Earned first career All-America laurel, finishing third on pommel horse with a season-high 15.45 at NCAA Event Championships (April 18) ... helped Ohio State to two program highs on pommel horse at NCAA Qualifier with a 57. 55 (April 16) and Championships with a 58.35 (April 17) ... notched a then-personal best 15.4 on the event for second at the NCAA championships and a 14.7 at the qualifier ... represented Buckeyes on pommel horse at Big Ten Team Championships April 3 in Ann Arbor, Mich. ... recorded a team-best 15.0 on event for fourth place ... scored a 13.6 in conference pommel horse finals (April 4) for eighth ... competed at 5-of-6 Buckeye duals in 2009 ... made Ohio State debut, scoring a then-program high 15.3 on pommel horse vs. UIC (Feb. 21) in St. John Arena ... followed with a 14.1 on the apparatus at Penn State (Feb. 28) to place second ... scored a team-best 14.0 on the event vs. Michigan (March 21) to place sixth.
Prior to Ohio State: Qualified for four-consecutive Junior Olympic Nationals ... finished second on pommel horse at 2007 J.O. Nationals after placing fifth on the event in 2004 and '05 ... recipient of the Arnold Classic scholarship ... named first-team All-American in 2004, '05, '06 and '07.
Personal: Son of Tom and Mary Echard ... has one sister, Susan ... product of the OSU Boys Club coached by Dmitri Bilozertchev ... started gymnastics at age 3 ... first admired gymnast Drew Durbin, a 2008 Ohio State Hall of Fame inductee ... greatest gymnastics accomplishment was "placing second on pommel horse at J.O.
