Buckeyes Travel to Illinois for the Windon Memorial Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's golf team will return to the course Sunday and Monday, Sept. 22-23, for the Windon Memorial Class in Lake Forest, Ill. Hosted by Northwestern, the two-day, 54-hole event will take place at the Knollwood Club, and feature a par 72, 7,202-yard course set up.
Of the 16 teams scheduled to compete, six members of the field - Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue - hail from the Big Ten Conference.

THE BUCKEYE LINEUP
Juniors Boo Timko and Grant Weaver will have the opportunity to showcase their wealth of experience as members of the lineup. Timko has competed in every tournament possible during his Buckeye career, while Weaver has made an appearance in all but one.
Also making the trip are sophomores Tee-k Kelly, Michael Bernard and Max Rosenthal. Freshman standout Fredrick Hammer will join the squad for the second tournament of his collegiate golf career. At the Northern Intercollegiate, Hammer kicked off his freshman campaign with the lowest Buckeye scoring total.

Freshman Frederik Hammer finished the first tournament of his career tied for 20th with scores of 77-70-74 for a 5-over 221.
THE WINDON MEMORIAL
Overall, the tournament has an impressive history, with current PGA Tour members Luke Donald, Joe Ogilvie, Tiger Woods, Gary Woodland and Ben Curtis all finishing as runners-up in the event.
This season the tournament will transition to the par 72, 7,202-yard Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill. Designed by J.S. Colt and C.H. Alison in 1924, the Knollwood Club has hosted both the USGA's Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships. The course is welcoming the Windon Class for the first time since 2000.
Timko earned PING All-Midwest honors and was named to the All-Big Ten Championship Team in 2013. He also earned All-Big Ten second team accolades last season. A Girard, Ohio, native, Timko notched a team-best 72.96 stroke average and played in all 12 tournaments.
Weaver averaged a 73.71 stroke coming in second on the team in 2013. A Wooster, Ohio, product, Weaver competed in all 12 tournaments with 27 of 32 rounds counting towards the team score.
Hammer, in his first season with the program, is from Rungsted, Denmark.
A native of Springfield, Ohio, Engle was named the 2011 Ohio Division II Individual State Champion during his time with Springfield Shawnee High School. He was twice named the Central Buckeye Conference Player of the Year, and served as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns. As a senior, Engle recorded a school-record 63 and averaged 34.7 in 9-hole matches and 71.4 in 18-hole tournaments.
Hammer hails from Rungsted, Denmark and was rencently named to the 2013 Big Ten Players to Watch list. In 2009, he won the Doral Junior Publix, European Boys Team Championship as well as the Junior Open. Twice he finished tied for third at the European Boys Championship (2010, 11). He also ranked fifth at the Danish Championship in 2012.
Wick arrives at Ohio State after leading Upper Arlington High School to the 2012 OCC Championship. A two-time recipient of the Jack Nicklaus award, Wick holds a 75 overall average, and his score has counted in every team match for the last two seasons. Wick was an active participant in the Future Collegians World Tour, earning first-team All-America as well as FCWT Central Region Player of the Year honors.
