COLUMBUS, Ohio - Head coach Donnie Darr and the Ohio State men's golf team announced the 2012-13 schedule Monday. The squad will host two tournaments this year, including an NCAA Regional Championship at The Ohio State University Golf Club - Scarlet Course.
The squad opens the fall with the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va., Sept. 10-11. The Buckeyes will return to the Guyan Country Club as back-to-back champions of the tournament and have won the invitational 19 times.
Ohio State will travel to Zionsville, Ind., for the Wolf Run Intercollegiate (Sept. 15-16) and then compete in the Windon Memorial (Sept. 23-24) hosted by Northwestern. The team will host the third-annual Jack Nicklaus Invitational, Oct. 8-9, and will once again play the tournament at the beautiful Muirfield Village Golf Club. The Buckeyes close out the fall in Dallas at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, Oct. 29-30.
The 2013 Big Ten Match Play Championship kicks off the spring schedule and Ohio State along with the rest of the conference will compete in the annual tournament in Sarasota, Fla., Feb. 8-9. The team will once again travel to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 17-19.
Following a month break from competition, Ohio State returns to the links for the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee (March 15-17). The squad closes out the regular season with two tournaments on the road - the Seahawk Intercollegiate (March 24-25) in Wilmington, N.C., and the Gary Koch Invitational (April 7-8) in Tampa.
The postseason will open with the Big Ten Championships, April 26-28, in French Lick, Ind., at the French Lick Resort - Pete Dye Course. After the conference tournament, Ohio State will look to secure a spot at a regional as the squad hosts one of six NCAA Regional Championships, May 16-18, at The Ohio State University Golf Club - Scarlet Course. The 2013 NCAA Championships will be held May 28-June 2 in Alpharetta, Ga., at the Capital City Club.
