Buckeyes Make Noise at Ohio Open Championship
July 2, 2014
WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio - Rising senior Boo Timko earned top amateur honors at the Ohio Open Championship, sharing that title with Ian Holt after both shot 6-under 206s. Fellow senior Logan Jones performed admirably as well, placing t-17th at 3-under (209). In addition, Buckeye alumni Kevin Hall and Colin Biles finished in the top-5. Hall drilled a 10-foot putt on the 18th green Wednesday to force a play-off before settling for runner-up honors.
Timko carded back-to-back rounds of 68 during the final two days to surge up the leaderboard following an opening-round 70. Jones was consistent throughout, posting scores of 69-70-70 during his top-20 performance. A third Ohio State senior, Grant Weaver, came up just one stroke shy of making the cut while recovering from a torn ACL.
