COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team heads to Tampa, Fla., for the Gary Koch Invitational April 8-9. The 54-hole tournament will take place on the par 72, 7,389-yard Country Club of Old Memorial Golf Course and is hosted by Auburn and Kentucky.

A pair of sophomores and a trio of freshmen will represent Ohio State in the tournament. Sophomores Boo Timko and Grant Weaver with freshman Tee-k Kelly have competed in all nine tournaments this year, while freshmen Max Rosenthal and Michael Bernard have each played in eight.

Battling 30 mph winds and soggy conditions, the Ohio State men’s golf team finished seventh at the Seahawk Intercollegiate March 24-25 with a 36-hole score of 618. The tournament was shortened because of inclement weather.
Sophomore Boo Timko led the Buckeyes, finishing tied for 10th with a 7-over 151 (75-76). Classmate Grant Weaver came in tied for 16th after recording scores of 77 and 76 for a 9-over 153.
Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday with highs in the low 80s. Both days are expected to have 7 mph winds out of the south with zero percent chance of rain.
BY THE NUMBERS
Ohio State has competed in nine tournaments and one match play tournament this season, holding a 53-50-1 record versus its 2012-13 opponents. Sophomore Boo Timko currently leads the team in stroke average with a 73.23, while classmate Grant Weaver is close behind with a 73.77 average. Timko and Weaver each have a team-best five finishes in the Top 20, including a fifth-place finish for Timko in September.
The Buckeyes travel to the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate in Glenview, Ill., to close out the regular seaso April 15-16.
