Spring Season Starts with Big Ten Match Play

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's golf team is set to travel to Bradenton, Fla., for the Big Ten Match Play Championship Feb. 8-9. Kicking off the second portion of the season for the Buckeyes, the championship will once again be held at The Concession Golf Club, which features a par 72, 7,474-yard course designed by Buckeye great Jack Nicklaus. The event will be televised by Big Ten Network on tape delay on a date to be determined. TOURNAMENT BASICS MATCH PLAY FIELD The teams are seeded as follows: Illinois (1), Northwestern (2), Iowa (3), Indiana (4), Ohio State (5), Purdue (6), Michigan State (7), Minnesota (8), Michigan (9), Penn State (10), Nebraska (11) and Wisconsin (12). WEEKEND SCHEDULE Saturday, Feb. 9 Championship: Winners of Match 9 and Match 10 THE BUCKEYE LINEUP Joining them are three freshmen in Tee-k Kelly, Michael Bernard and Max Rosenthal. Kelly competed in all five fall tournaments for Ohio State, while Bernard and Rosenthal played in four each. 2012 BIG TEN MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP OHIO STATE SIGN THREE FOR 2013-14 Engle is from Springfield, Ohio, and attends Springfield Shawnee High School. The two-time Central Buckeye Conference Player of the Year (2011, 2012) was the 2011 Ohio Division II state champion and earned all-state honors that season. Jan hails from Northbrook, Ill., and attends Glenbrook North High School. He is a two-time conference champion (2009, 2011) and was the 2012 runner-up, while being named all-conference four years in a row. An Upper Arlington product, Wick is a four-time letterwinner for Upper Arlington High School. He led UA to a 27-1 finish and an OCC Central Division title in 2012. Wick was named a 2012 FCWT First Team All-American and earned FCWT Academic All-America honors. He was also named the 2012 FCWT Central Region Junior Golfer of the Year. UP NEXT
