COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Ohio State junior Will Voetsch opened the spring portion of the season on a solid note, finishing tied for fifth in at the Georgia Southern Individual Intercollegiate on Monday.
The two day event was played at the Georgia Southern Golf Club in Statesboro, Ga. Head coach Jay Moseley took four of his players on the southern trip and Voetsch led the way with rounds of 70-76 (+2). He made five birdies in his opening round and held the lead after the first day. The fifth place finish is the best of his season.
Jeg Coughlin III posted rounds of 76-75 (+7) to finish in a tie for 14th while Kevin Stone wasn’t too far behind at 75-79 (+10) in his second tournament as a Buckeye. Justin Wick had a rough opening round of 86 but rebounded nicely on Monday with a round of 2-over 74.
The Buckeyes will play their first team event of the spring this weekend at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Coast, Fla.
