Ohio State Captures Windon Memorial

COLUMBUS, Ohio –Behind strong play in the second and third rounds, the Ohio State men’s golf team came from behind to win the Windon Memorial with a 29-over 881 on the difficult par 71, 7,081-yard Skokie Country Golf Course in Glencoe, Ill. After a rough start in the first round, the Buckeyes climbed the team leaderboard and defeated host Northwestern by a stroke on the final day.

The victory is the first of the season for the young lineup that was composed of two sophomores and three freshmen. Ohio State opened the tournament with a 306 to finish round one in ninth, but came back with scores of 286 and 289 to take the title.

Freshman Max Rosenthal led the squad on the final day, carding a 1-under 70. Along with rounds of 77 and 72, the Eden Prairie, Minn., product finished tied for eighth with a 6-over 219.

Sophomore Grant Weaver came in tied for 12th with a 7-over 220. After opening with a 75, the Wooster, Ohio, native carded a career-low 67 to finish the second round in first. Weaver had a 78 in the final round to conclude the tournament.

Sophomore Boo Timko and freshman Tee-K Kelly each finished tied for 17th, tallying a 10-over 223. Freshman Michael Bernard came in tied for 37th with a 15-over 228.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Logan Jones tied for 55th in his first tournament of the year with a 234.

Ohio State takes some time off from competition before hosting the Jack Nicklaus Invitational, Oct. 8-9. The 54-hole tournament will be once again played at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
