Buckeyes Tie for Fourth at Windon Memorial

COLUMBUS, Ohio - After an impressive third round of play, the Ohio State men's golf team concluded the Windon Memorial in Lake Forest, Ill., Monday in a fourth-place tie with Purdue. The Buckeyes carded an 11-over 875 total on the par 72, 7,202-yard course at the Knollwood Club. The total includes a 1-under 287 performance by the squad on the final day of action.
Boo Timko, a junior from Girard, Ohio, tallied six birdies in the third round to finish with his lowest score of the tournament at 3-under 69. Overall, Timko dropped a 1-under 215, which put him in an 11th-place tie in the individual standings.
Sophomore Max Rosenthal, who competed as an individual, finished with an even 216 for a 14th-place tie. In round three, Rosenthal carded two birdies to finish the day at 3-over 75.
Sophomore Tee-k Kelly also ended the final round under par with a 1-under 71. The Illinois native scored a 2-over 218 overall to tie for 19th place. Over the course of the tournament, Kelly recorded nine birdies.
With a 6-over 222, junior Grant Weaver placed 29th in the individual standings. Weaver bounced back in the third round to card a 1-over 73 with four birdies on the day. Freshman Frederik Hammer also saw improvement in final round where he tallied a 2-over 74. For the tournament, Hammer recorded a 9-over 225 for a 43rd-place tie.
Sophomore Michael Bernard rounded out the Buckeye lineup with an 11-over 227 performance for 54th place.
Host Northwestern captured the tournament title with a 4-under 860, while Michigan's Chris O'Neill took the individual crown with an 8-under 208.
With a quick turnaround, Ohio State will host the fourth-annual Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the Ohio State University Golf Club - Scarlet Course in Columbus Sept. 29-30.
