Ohio State Third at Marshall Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's golf team finished the first day of the Marshall Invitational in third with a 3-under 565 over 36 holes Monday. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the on the par 71, 6,523-yard Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington, W.Va.
Virginia Tech carded a field-best 20-under 548, while host Marshall is in second with a 4-under 564. Xavier's Korey Ward is first individually with a 7-under 135 and Marshall's Nathan Kerns is close behind at 6-under 136.
Sophomore Grant Weaver leads the Buckeyes, sitting tied for third with a 5-under 137. The Wooster, Ohio, product opened the day with a career-best 68 and followed with a 69 to conclude day one.
Classmate Boo Timko is tied for 10th after rounds of 69 and 71 gave him a 2-under 140 on the day. Freshman Max Rosenthal, who is competing as an individual, finished the day even par and tied for 15th after carding rounds of 73 and 69 for a 142.
The third and final round begins Tuesday with 8 a.m. ET tee times on holes 1 and 10.
