Ohio State Finishes Seventh at Northern Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's golf team concluded the first tournament of the season in seventh after carding an even 288 on the final day of the Northern Intercollegiate. The Buckeyes totaled an 895 at the conclusion of the three-day tournament on the par-72, 7,236-yard course at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Freshman Frederik Hammer finished the first tournament of his career tied for 20th with scores of 77-70-74 for a 5-over 221. The Rungsted, Denmark, native totaled four birdies on the day.
Sophomore Michael Bernard ended the weekend with a 223 to tie for 24th overall. He totaled a 1-under 71 on the final day, having three birdies to offset one bogie. Classmate Tee-k Kelly also finished with a 71 Sunday and came in tied for 33rd overall with a 225.
Junior Boo Timko carded an even 72 in the final round and concluded the day tied for 40th with a three-day total of 226. Classmate Grant Weaver rounded out the Buckeye lineup tied for 67th with a 235.
Sophomore Max Rosenthal, competing as an individual, finished the weekend tied for 53rd with a 230 (77-76-77).
UCF claimed the team title with a 2-over 866, while Houston's Roman Robledo finished first individually with a 5-under 211.
The Buckeyes will return to the state of Illinois for the Windon Memorial, scheduled Sept. 22-23 in Lake Forest, Ill. Also, coming up quickly on the agenda is the Jack Nicklaus Invitational. Ohio State will host the tournament, Sept. 29-30, on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
