Buckeyes in Ninth after Two Rounds at Northern Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On the second day of action at the Northern Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, the Ohio State men’s golf team posted an 8-over 296. After two rounds of competition, the Buckeyes rank ninth overall and have totaled 31-over 607 on the par-72, 7,236-yard course at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Freshman Frederik Hammer had an impressive Saturday, finishing the day with a 2-under 70. Overall, Hammer is in 19th-place with a 3-over 147 total. With an 8-over 152, sophomore Michael Bernard is tied for 40th-place moving into the final round of play.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Max Rosenthal shot a 4-over 76. Rosenthal eagled the 17th-hole of play, improving his total to 9-over 153 for 45th-place following two rounds. Sophomore Tee-k Kelly is currently tied for 51st-place after recording a 10-over 154.
Rounding out the Buckeyes’ scoring effort were juniors Boo Timko and Grant Weaver. Timko will also enter the final round in 51st-place with a 10-over 154, while Weaver will look to battle back from 59th-place with a 14-over 158.
Houston remains in first-place in the team competition with a 4-under 572 total over two rounds. The Cougars also have the top-ranked individual, Roman Robledo, who owns a 6-under 138 standing.
Play will resume Sunday, with tee times schedule for an 8 a.m. start.
