Buckeyes Conclude Season in 12th at NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team placed 12th at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional tournament Saturday after recording a 9-over 293 in the final round of action. The Buckeyes carded an overall total of 43-over 895 on the par-71, 6,723-yard University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Freshman Boo Timko fired a 1-under 70 final round score, a four-stroke improvement over his previous tournament low. Timko finished as the top Buckeye with a 7-over 220 for a 38th-place tie.
Senior Dan Charen recorded a 4-over 75, concluding his Buckeye career tied for 49th with a 10-over 223 total. Along with Charen, senior Alex Redfield also rounded out his final tournament at the Ann Arbor Regional. The Columbus, Ohio, native shot a 3-over 74, and ended the day tied for 56th (12-over 225).
Redshirt freshman Logan Jones also tallied a 3-over 74 in the final round, finishing in 64th with a 14-over 227. Grant Weaver, a freshman from Wooster, Ohio, wrapped up his first regional appearance with a 233 total to tie for 71st.
The lowest scoring five teams advanced to the NCAA Finals: Southern California, Oregon, Kent State, Virginia and Texas Christian. Southern California finished a stroke ahead of Oregon to win the regional competition with an 11-under 841.
