Ohio State 12th after First Round of NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team opened the NCAA Regional tournament Thursday in 12th following the first round. The Buckeyes carded a 21-over 305 on the par-71, 6,723-yard University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Senior Alex Redfield led the Buckeyes, striking a 4-over 75 to tie for 42nd. Freshman Boo Timko and senior Dan Charen are both tied for 48th with a 5-over 76.

Redshirt freshman Logan Jones recorded a 7-over 78 to tie for 60th, while fellow freshman Grant Weaver tallied an 8-over 79 for a 65th-place tie.

TCU currently holds the top spot on the leaderboard after totaling a 6-under 278 in the first round. Kent State follows with a 2-over 286, while Kennesaw State and Virginia round out the top 3 tied at 3-over 287.

Ohio State will return for the second round tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:50 a.m. CT. The final round will be played Saturday with the low five teams advancing to the NCAA Finals in Los Angeles, Calif.
