Ohio State Places Sixth at Big Ten Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ohio - The Ohio State men's golf team concluded the 2014 Big Ten Championships with its second-best round of the 72-hole weekend, shooting 297 on Sunday and finishing at 54-over (1,206) overall to place sixth. Minnesota was crowned champions and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals by carding a 34-over 1,186.
A pair of Buckeyes battled their way into the individual top-10 for the second consecutive season. Boo Timko, a junior from Girard, Ohio, saved his best round for last, carding an even-par 72 on the final day to climb up to sixth place. He started the weekend with two rounds of 73 before battling treacherous winds during a 79 on Saturday and the aforementioned 72 fourth round for a weekend total of 297 (+9).
Sophomore Tee-k Kelly recorded Ohio State's best round of the event, dipping below par with a 71 in round two. He started and ended with 75s in addition to a 78 on Saturday to earn a share of seventh place on the individual leaderboard (299, +11).
Freshman Addison Coll got better as the tournament progressed. He opened with a 78 and shaved off two shots in a 76 round number two. Coll then posted the team's best third round score, piercing the winds for a 77 on Saturday. He wrapped up his time in French Lick by contributing to the team score for the third time, registering a final round 74.
Junior Logan Jones was a three-time contributor to the team tally as well, tying for 41st overall. He tallied bookend marks of 76 with a 75 and 81 in the middle rounds. Freshman Frederik Hammer placed 52nd individually, notching a total score of 315 (+27, 82-75-79-79).
