BALTIMORE, Md. – Will Grimmer made an impressive run on the final day of the Big Ten Championships, blitzing the course to the tune of a 4-under 66 and ultimately capturing individual runner-up honors. The Buckeye sophomore matched Northwestern's Ryan Lumden at 4-under for the tournament, a lone shot back from B1G champion and 11th-ranked Dylan Meyer (-5) of Illinois. Grimmer's performance highlighted a third-place showing for Ohio State in the team standings, marking the best conference finish since 2004.

With a share of second place, Grimmer represented the Scarlet & Gray's top individual effort since 2004 as well when Kevin Hall lifted the Buckeyes to a team title by securing the individual crown.

Caleb Ramirez and Daniel Wetterich made it three OSU sophomores cracking the Top-20, tying for 14th and 19th place, respectively. Both chipped in to the team success in all three rounds. Clark Engle was also a contributor each day in grabbing a piece of 38th place.

The Buckeyes concluded the weekend with their best round, shooting even par (280) over the last 18 holes. Ohio State 'counted' no score worse than 72 on the final day to make a two-slot climb up into third place.

Back to Grimmer, who paced OSU in the conference tournament for the second straight season after a T-12th ledger last year. In 2017, he was one of just five players in the field to rack up a dozen or more birdies. Grimmer bested three opponents ranked inside the Golfstat Top-40 nationally. He put a cherry on top late Sunday afternoon, rolling home a 40-footer on the 18th for a birdie applying some serious pressure to Meyer:

Ramirez took a scenic route to the Top-20 with several ups-and-downs throughout the weekend while Wetterich ventured along a more straight and narrow path. Ramirez came out hot at 1-under (69) on Friday before stumbling a bit in a 4-over (74) second round. He then came storming back on Day Three, settling in for even par (70). Wetterich flashed little variance, rattling off rounds of 72-71-72 to complete his fifth consecutive competition tied for 19th or better.
