BALTIMORE, Md. - For the second-straight season, the Ohio State men's golf team posted its best finish in 15 years at the Big Ten Championship, finishing runner-up at 11-over par. Last year, the Buckeyes enjoyed a third place finish in the event.

Individually, junior Will Grimmer carded a final round 72 and finished in fourth place alone. That is his second-straight top-5 finish at Baltimore Country Club as he was runner-up a season ago. Grimmer made four birdies on the opening nine on Sunday in bitter cold and windy conditions.

Sophomore Jeg Coughlin III also had a good weekend, finishing tied for 10th at 4-over par. He posted rounds of 67-70-77 for the second top-10 of his career. He has averaged 72.0 over his last seven rounds this spring.

Daniel Wetterich finished his solid tournament with a round of 74 to finish tied for 15th at 5-over. He shot a 2-under 68 on Saturday to help the Buckeyes post a season-low tying 271.

Will Voetsch carded an 81 on Sunday while Josh Wick came in with a 78. Voetsch finished in a tie for 22nd and Wick was tied for 31st.

Ohio State and Illinois came into the final round just a shot apart and the cool breezy conditions Sunday morning certainly tested the teams. Both sides made little runs and held a share of the lead at different points but the Illini were able to pull away down the stretch of the back nine for the victory.

The Buckeyes will now wait to find out if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Men's Golf Selection Show is set for Wednesday, May 2 at 6 p.m. on the Golf Channel. By virtue of hosting one of the six regionals, if the Buckeyes are selected, they will be playing on the home course, the OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course from May 14-16.
