Buckeyes Tie for Fourth at Big Ten Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Ohio State men’s golf team closed out the 2013 Big Ten Championships tied for fourth with a four-round total of 38-over 1190. The Buckeyes carded a team score of 8-over 296 Sunday on the par 72, 7,152-yard Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort.
Illinois captured the team title, finishing with an 11-over 1163. Illini Thomas Pieters took home the individual crown, finishing with a 4-under 284.
Sophomore Boo Timko earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Championship team after finishing fourth overall with a 3-over 291. The Girard, Ohio, product carded a 1-under 71 on the final day, picking up five birdies to offset four bogies. Timko’s finish marked his third Top 5 finish of the season.
Classmate Grant Weaver picked up his sixth Top 20 finish of the year, tying for eighth overall with a 7-over 295. After opening the tournament with a 78 Friday, the Wooster, Ohio, native rebounded with rounds of 73-72-72 to close out the championship. Freshman Michael Bernard came in tied for 17th with a 12-over 300 for his second Top 20 finish this season.
Ohio State hopes to secure a spot in its own NCAA Regional, May 16-18, on the Scarlet Course. The field is set to be announced May 6 on NCAA.com.
