Buckeyes Tied For Fifth at the FAU Spring Break Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team is tied for fifth after completing the first round of play Friday at the Florida Atlantic University Spring Break Championship. The Buckeyes carded a 285 total to finish the day 1-over on the par-71 North Course at the Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla.
Ohio State currently has two golfers in the Top 10 individually. Freshman Grant Weaver tallied a 2-under 69 and will enter day two tied for eighth, while senior Alex Redfield is tied for 10th with a 1-under 70 performance.
Freshman Boo Timko also had a consistent opening round for the Scarlet and Gray. Timko recorded 1-over 72 and is currently tied for 27th-place. Senior Dan Charen and junior Matt Turner rounded out the Buckeye team score, each finishing tied for 38th with a 3-over 74 total.
Ohio State also has golfers competing as individuals at the FAU Spring Break Championship, including juniors Jamie Sindelar and Gary Quinn as well as redshirt freshman Logan Jones. Sindelar and Jones are tied for 38th with a 3-over 74, while Quinn ended the round in 85th-place carding a 10-over 81.
Overall, 25th-ranked Florida State sits on top of the leaderboard with a 4-under 280 on day one. There is currently a three way tie on top the individual leaderboard between Xavier’s Chris Burger, Florida State’s Brooks Koepka and Jacksonville State’s Tom Robson; each had a 4-under 67 to open the tournament.
