Coughlin III and Wetterich Do It Again, Dipping Further Under Par

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Following another strong round for both Jeg Coughlin III and Daniel Wetterich, Ohio State Men’s Golf leaped three teams in the Linger Longer Invitational second round to move into eighth place overall (290-287). In addition to Coughlin III and Wetterich’s second straight day shooting under par, the Buckeyes also received scores from Caden Orewiler and Will Grimmer to represent one of just five teams in the 15-team competition to improve its team score from Round One to Round Two.

Coughlin III followed up an opening round 70 by firing home a 3-under 69 in his second trip around the course. He particularly excelled on the Par 3’s, posting the event’s third best total score of 2-under on the short holes. Through 36 total holes, Coughlin III is 5-under and tied for 10th place among 84 players competing.

Wetterich has registered back-to-back 71’s and is tied for 18th overall. While his roller coaster Round One saw six birdies and five bogies, a more stable performance came Monday in the form of three birdies, two bogies and 13 pars.

Clark Engle and Jack Mancinotti are included in a group tied just inside the field’s upper half, shareholders of 41st place. Engle has carded rounds of 72-75 and Mancinotti, competing as an individual, is the owner of a 73-74 scoring line.

 

 

Caden Orewiler ascended 14 slots up the player leaderboard on the strength of his second round 73. At 6-over, he is tied for 56th with 18 holes to play. Will Grimmer battled back from a less-than-stellar Round One as well, rebounding nicely with a 74 in the second go-around.
