Boz was one of the true characters in Ohio State lore. A really, really nice guy underneath all the bluster and joking, he helped break in a couple of young reporters new to the Buckeyes beat in 1984. He told colorful stories about Woody, of course, more than one time caught a dirty look from Earle Bruce and was obviously adored by the Ohio State players who he regularly teased and taunted. Truly an original, he will be greatly missed by everyone who ever heard that laugh of his. - Rusty Miller, AP
John was a friendly face every day as we turned in our - Richard H. Munson, '71
Boz was never afraid to speak his mind when it came to guiding young people. I am so greatful that he was there for me. - John Minnis - Student trainer 61-67.
Boz was a very endearing character with a Giant heart. There was nothing he could not fix or make if you needed a special pad or other piece of equipment. I am saddened to hear of his death. Boz will always have a special place in my memories of my days as a Buckeye. - Anthony Megaro 77-80
Boz was one of the great experiences of Ohio State football. He could make you cry with laughter, Nobody could tell a story like Boz. Players and former coaches alike will miss him, - Kevin Rogers GA '77-'78
John was my mentor, friend and father figure away from home for the 10 years that I was a member of the Buckeye Football Family. Never at a loss for words when officering advise or a strong kick in the pants when needed, Boz will be remembered fondly by all of the men, young and old, who have beena part of Buckeye Football over the last half century. He had the ear of everyone from Coach Hayes to the equipment managers; from university administrators to the guys who mowed the fields. Only those on the inside know just how important John was to our program. He loved Ohio State and we loved him. We have lost a treasure but he will always be a part of our Buckeye heritage. - Mike Davis Student Assistant 76-79, GA 80-85
