John Simon is FCA Bowden Award finalist
Dec. 11, 2012
COLUMBUS, Ohio - John Simon's impressive and growing list of accolades in 2012 includes his off-the-field contributions in addition to his on-field efforts. Monday, Ohio State's senior defensive tackle was named one of three finalists for the Fellowship of Christian Athlete's Bobby Bowden Award, an honor that goes to the college football player who best epitomizes being a student-athlete. In order to be nominated for the Bobby Bowden Award, a player must conduct himself as a faith role model in the classroom, on the field, on the campus and in the community. The award is named for former Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden. University of Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley and Auburn University linebacker Ashton Richardson join Simon as a Bowden Award finalist. The 2012 Bobby Bowden Award winner will be announced at the FCA Bowl Championship Series site in Miami on January 4, 2013.
