COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State running back Mike Weber, who scored the go-ahead touchdown in the win over Michigan State Saturday late in the third quarter, was named the Big Ten’s freshman of the week this week.
Weber recorded the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his young career with 111 yards and one score against the Spartans. He averged 7.9 yards per carry and had a personal best 52-yard run to set up his short touchdown run. His long run also put him over 1,000 yards for his career. Weber is just the third freshman at Ohio State to ever rush for 1,000 yards.
