Ohio State Postgame Notes

  • With the win, Ohio State improves to 7-0 for the first time since the 2007 season when the Buckeyes started 10-0.
  • The Buckeyes are now 36-18 in night games (games starting at 5 p.m. or later) all-time. They improve to 19-8 away from home in night games.
  • Ohio State is 272-0-1 all-time when it scores at least 35 points. The tie was 35-35 against SMU in 1978.
  • Ohio State leads the all-time series with Indiana 68-12-5 and 25-2-1 in Bloomington.
  • Ohio State has won the last 17 meetings overall and the last nine in Bloomington. Its last loss at Memorial Stadium was in 1988.
  • With 52 points vs. Indiana and 63 last week vs. Nebraska, Ohio State has posted 50+ points in back to back games for the first time since 1996 when the Buckeyes opened with a 70-7 win vs. Rice and a 72-0 win over Pittsburgh.

  • Miller dashed 67 yards for a score in the third quarter, his fourth rush of at least 55 yards this season and the fifth of his career.
  • Miller finished the game with 149 yards on the ground, his fifth of the season and eighth of his career with at least 100 yards. He also added 211 passing, completing 13 of 24 tosses with one INT.
  • Carlos Hyde finished with 156 yards on 22 carries and one TD, the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his career and his second of the season.
  • It marks the fifth time in Ohio State history and the first time in 37 years in which two players rushed for at least 100 yards in back-to-back games. Miller and Hyde rushed for 186 and 140 yards, respectively, last week vs. Nebraska. Archie Griffin and Pete Johnson each had 100+ in games at Purdue and home vs. Indiana in 1975.
  • Backup QB Kenny Guiton tossed the first TD pass of his career on a 14-yard shovel pass to Hyde in the third quarter. It also was the first TD reception of Hyde's career.
  • Bradley Roby recovered a blocked punt by Travis Howard for a TD in the second quarter, the second time this season the Buckeyes have blocked a punt (at MSU).
  • The recovery by Roby for a touchdown was the first by a Buckeye since Zach Domicone in 2010 against Minnesota.
  • Roby also finished the game with a career-high three pass breakups. Ryan Shazier had five pass breakups.
  • Playing linebacker for the first time, Zach Boren led the Buckeyes with eight tackles.
  • Rod Smith returned two kickoffs 33 yards each, the longest returns of the year for the Buckeyes. He finished with 3 returns for 85 yards.
