Ohio State Overview: Cam Williams is an impressive and respectful young man who has an incredibly bright future ahead of him after he is through contributing for the Buckeyes … a true senior and a three-year Varsity O letterman, Williams has appeared in 39 Ohio State games as a special teams performer and reserve linebacker with one start to his credit … he has 28 career tackles … Cam is a fine student-athlete and has earned OSU Scholar-Athlete honors three times and Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors twice … he interned in the summer of 2015 with the Columbus law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease … will graduate in December with his degree in communications.
2014 Season (Junior): Williams played in all 15 games for the College Football Playoff national champions … lined up for a career-high 46 plays in the win over Illinois, including 33 snaps on defense … also had 30 plays vs. Rutgers … totaled 10 tackles on the year, including four vs. Illinois.
2013 Season (Sophomore): Williams played in all 14 games … he made his first career start in place of the injured Curtis Grant at Illinois Nov. 16 and responded with a career-high 10 tackles, including four solo stops … had 88 snaps on defense vs. the Illini … made two tackles in the win over Michigan … he recorded 15 tackles for the season and also had two pass break-ups.
2012 Season (Freshman): Williams lettered as a true freshman for Ohio State’s undefeated team … he played primarily on special teams and had playing time in 10 games, including in the final nine games of the season … played on defense for the first time as a collegian vs. Alabama-Birmingham … played a personal-high 15 snaps on defense vs. Nebraska.
More on Cam: Williams was a four-star prospect as a high school senior who was rated the No. 1 player in the Northeast region by SuperPrep … he was also rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 8 inside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com, and a four-star prospect by Scout.com … he was the No. 1 player in Massachusetts according to Rivals.com and he was on the Rivals 250 list … he was also named a SuperPrep All-American … playing for coach Alex Campea, Williams had 119 tackles for a 7-2 Catholic Memorial team as a senior … he was named all-scholastic by the Boston Globe and the defensive player of the year in the Catholic Conference … he played in the inaugural Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Jan. 3 in Phoenix, Ariz. … he was a member of the National Honor Society … Williams is the son of Jacquelin and Brent Williams … his father had an 11-year NFL career between 1986-96 with three teams – New England, Seattle and the New York Jets … his brother, Brennan, played collegiately at North Carolina and is currently with the Houston Texans.
