Ohio State Overview: Adolphus Washington is one formidable defensive lineman who is coming off his best season as a Buckeye and who is being considered among the finest defensive linemen in college football, as evidenced by his preseason All-America honors by The Sporting News, Athlon Sports and Phil Steele … a true senior who has played in 37 games, Washington is a 19-game starter and a leader along the line … he has been in on 93 career tackles, including 18.0 tackles-for-loss (83 yards) and 10.5 quarterback sacks … Washington’s honors and accolades include being named honorable mention all-Big Ten Conference in 2014 and earning OSU Scholar-Athlete recognition in 2013 … he is majoring in sport industry.

2014 Season (Junior): Washington started 14 games and played in all 15 games for the College Football Playoff national champions … he set season and game career highs in virtually every defensive category, with 48 total tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss (42 yards) and 4.5 quarterback sacks and was named honorable mention all-Big Ten Conference … he had a career high eight-tackle game vs. Minnesota, a game he also recorded a personal-best six solo tackles … registered quarterback sacks against Navy, Penn State, Minnesota, Michigan and in the national title game vs. Oregon … opened the season with a personal-best two TFLs vs. Navy … was in on 832 plays, including helping out on special teams in 13 of 15 games.

2013 Season (Sophomore): Washington played in 12 games and started five times along the defensive line (vs. Buffalo, San Diego State, Northwestern, Michigan and Clemson) … he came on the latter part of the season after missing two games – and not being 100 percent for others – with a groin issue … he registered 36 tackles, including 4.0 tackles-for-loss (12 yards) … he had quarterback sacks vs. Penn State and half-sacks vs. both Purdue and Illinois … he had six tackles vs. Illinois and again vs. Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game.

2012 Season (Freshman): Washington played in 10 games as a true freshman for the undefeated Buckeyes and ranked third on the team with 3.0 quarterback sacks for losses totaling 27 yards … his sacks, part of a nine-tackle freshman campaign, came against Miami (in his first collegiate game), vs. Illinois and vs. Michigan … he managed to play 156 snaps on a veteran defense with a high of 31 plays vs. Central Florida.
