Stan Drayton
Assistant Head Coach for Offense / Running Backs Coach

Stan Drayton coached his fourth season at Ohio State during the 2014 campaign, a season in which the Buckeyes captured Big Ten Conference, Allstate Sugar Bowl and the College Football Playoff national championships. The year was the Cleveland nativeâ?TMs 22nd season of coaching, his fourth season as Ohio State's running backs coach (and second as assistant head coach for offense) and his seventh year on an Urban Meyer staff.

In early February, Drayton left Ohio State to become running backs coach with the NFLâ?TMs Chicago Bears.

Drayton, who came to Ohio State in 2011 to coach the team's receivers, was asked, not surprisingly, to stay on the coaching staff when Meyer took over as coach in 2012. Drayton is an excellent coach and his players produce. This season, sophomore Ezekiel Elliott was amazing in the second half of the season,a and particularly during the Buckeyes run to the national championship with 220 rushing yards vs. Wisconsin, 230 yards vs. Alabama and 246 yards vs. Oregon to go along with eight touchdowns. Elliott finished 2014 with the second-most rushing yards in school history for a season: 1,878.

Two years ago, Carlos Hyde was named the Big Ten Conference's Ameche-Dayne running back of the year after leading the Big Ten in rushing with 1,521 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns.

Hyde, in fact, will be considered among the top running backs in Ohio State history. He owns the best yards per carry average for a career (6.1), single season (7.3 in 2013) and game (10.2 vs. Illinois in 2013) and he has the sixth-most rushing yards in school history with 3,198.

During Ohio State's 12-0 campaign in 2012, Drayton coached the team's running backs to 1,536 yards, 21 touchdowns and an average of 5.44 yards per carry.

A graduate of John Marshall High School, Drayton came to Ohio State from Florida, where he served as the Gators' running backs coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2010 season. He also served as Florida's running backs coach from 2005-07, and held the same position at SEC schools Tennessee (2008) and Mississippi State (2004).

With coaching experience and success at every level, Drayton's resume includes stints as an assistant coach on the collegiate level at Syracuse (2009), Bowling Green (2000), Villanova (1996-2000), Penn (1995), Eastern Michigan (1994) and Allegheny (1993).

From 2001-03, he served as the offensive quality control and assistant special teams coach for the Green Bay Packers, helping them to three NFC playoff appearances in the process. He is a past nominee for the AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year award, and was recognized by Rivals as one of the nation's top 25 recruiters.

Three times a first-team All-America selection as a running back at Allegheny (Pa.) College, Drayton is Allegheny's all-time leading rusher and scorer and was a part of the 1990 Division III national championship team. He still holds the Division III single-season record for touchdowns scored per game (3.2).

Drayton was a two-time All-American in track as well, competing in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. A 1993 graduate with a bachelor's degree in English, Drayton was inducted into the Allegheny College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

Drayton, and his wife Monique, have two daughters: Amari and Anaya.
