Roby was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award in 2012 when he led the nation in passes defended with 19 (17 pass break-ups, which tied the OSU single season record, and two interceptions) and 1.73 per game ... was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press and Walter Camp ... a first-team all-Big Ten Conference performer by both the coach and media polls, Roby was the only defensive player in the nation last year to score touchdowns three different ways (recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone vs. Miami; he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone vs. Indiana; and he intercepted a pass vs. Nebraska and returned it for a touchdown) ... he blocked a punt in the one-point win at Michigan State and he was third on the team in tackles with 63 ... his impact games included four pass break-ups in the win at Penn State and a two-interception game vs. Nebraska, including a momentum-shifting 41-yard "pick six" in the 63-38 victory ... he tied a personal best (California) with seven solo tackles in the win over Michigan ... he set a personal best with nine total tackles vs. California ... had three pass break-ups vs. Indiana ... after red-shirting the 2010 season as a true freshman, Roby stepped up when he had the opportunity and started all 13 games at cornerback in 2011 ... he tied for the team lead as a freshman with three interceptions and he also was in on 47 tackles, including 3.5 tackles-for-loss (totaling 23 yards) ... his 57 interception return yards topped the team and included a 36-yard return vs. Illinois (to the Illini 12) that set the Buckeyes up for a momentum-swinging, second-half score in the 17-7 win ...
