Ohio State Overview: Raekwon McMillan was a finalist for the Butkus Award in 2015 as a true sophomore and a second-team All-American as selected by Walter Camp … he enters the 2016 season a legitimate and worthy candidate for the major individual defensive awards and All-America honors … already identified by coach Urban Meyer as a team co-captain this season, McMillan is expected to be a force on and off the field for a Buckeye defense that returns just three starters with six of its key players from 2015 drafted into the NFL … McMillan, who is instinctive and impressively quick to the ball, is coming off a 119-tackle season and enters the coming season with 166 career tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, four quarterback sacks, one interception, five pass break-ups and a fumble recovery … he has played in every game the past two seasons and has started 13 times at middle linebacker … a two-time Varsity O letterwinner, McMillan is majoring in family resource management.

2015 Season (Sophomore): McMillan led the Buckeyes in tackles with 119 and ranked fourth in the Big Ten Conference in both total tackles and average per game (9.8) … his total was the most by an Ohio State sophomore in 25 years, or since Steve Tovar had 125 tackles as a sophomore in 1990 … McMillan was named first-team all-Big Ten by the media earned second-team All-America recognition on the Walter Camp ballot while finishing third for the Butkus Award, an award that he won as a high school senior … he started all 13 games at middle linebacker and led the Buckeyes in tackles seven times with high games of 16 tackles vs. Western Michigan (a career high) and 14 stops against both Indiana and Illinois … his high TFL game was 2.0 in the win over Illinois … credited with five quarterback hurries and had four pass break-ups … played 889 plays including activity on special teams in all 13 games.

2014 Season (Freshman): McMillan earned snaps on defense at middle linebacker in 14 games and he played in all 15 games for the College Football Playoff national champions ... he was named a freshman All-American by Athlon's, 247Sports and Scout.com ... he actually had more snaps at linebacker than the starter Grant in nine games, and he finished with 573 total plays, 471 of those on defense and 102 of them on special teams ... McMillan made plays when he was in the game and finished No. 8 among Ohio State tacklers with 54 tackles, a total that included 6.5 tackles-for-loss (24 yards) and 2.5 sacks ... he had an interception against Maryland that he returned 24 yards for a touchdown ... he had a personal-best and team-leading seven tackles vs. Kent and he had six in games against Michigan and Wisconsin, the latter coming in the Big Ten championship game ... he had a high of 2.5 TFLs, including two sacks, vs. Kent, and he also had 2.0 TFLs vs. Michigan,
