Earliest start, perhaps, in school history comes after a 103-day break in practices

Career Overview: Jack Mewhort was a three year starter along the offensive line for the Buckeyes, including during a school-record setting run of 24-consecutive victories spanning all of the 2012 and 2013 regular seasons ... Jack was handpicked by Coach Urban Meyer to be a team captain (because of his leadership qualities) and when the official captains were named following the season, Jack was one of five team captains ... he played in 49 games as a Buckeye and started 39 consecutive games to close his career ... graduated in May 2014 with his degree in consumer and family resource financial services.

Senior Season: Meyer called Jack one of the best players on Ohio State's prolific, record-setting offense of 2013 ... he was named a first-team All-American by ESPN.com, a second-team All-American by Walter Camp, Sports Illustrated and the Football Writers Association of America, and a third-team Associated Press All-American ... invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl ... was the foundation of an offensive line that ranked fifth nationally in rushing in 2013 (308.6 yards per game) and that shattered school records for points scored (637), touchdowns (87) and touchdown passes (38), plus scored the third-most rushing touchdowns in school history (45) ... additionally, Ohio State averaged an all-time program high 6.8 yards per carry and the offense was fourth nationally in red zone pct. (60 of 63; .952) ... named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.

Junior Season: Jack started at left tackle in all 12 games in 2012 when Ohio State went 12-0, won the Big Ten Conference Leaders Division, was ranked No. 3 in the nation and was the only undefeated team in the Football Bowl Subdivision ... lined up for 827 of the team's 837 offensive plays from scrimmage ... helped the Buckeyes average 242.2 yards per game rushing (10th nationally), lead the Big Ten in scoring (37.1 ppg) and he was named second-team all-Big Ten for his efforts ... he also helped Ohio State to a 34-year high 37 rushing touchdowns ... he was honored as Ohio State's co-offensive lineman of the year (along with teammate Andrew Norwell). Sophomore Season: In 2011 Mewhort started the first five games of the season at left guard and closed out the year with eight consecutive starts at right guard ... was named honorable mention all-Big Ten Conference by both the conference coaches and media.

Freshman Season: Jack, in 2010, saw playing time in 10 games as a red-shirt freshman and was named to an all-Big Ten frosh team by Rivals.com.
