Matt Groom is in his third year with the Ohio State football program and his first year as the defensive quality control assistant. He spent his first two seasons with Ohio State - 2009-10 - working as a defensive program assistant.

Groom, who is working on his master's degree at Ohio State in educational administration with a focus on sports management, is a 2009 graduate of Ohio Dominican where he played two years on the football team under coach Dale Carlson before assuming a coaching role with the defensive backs for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

A Columbus native who attended Bishop Hartley High School, Groom is married to his high school sweetheart (Meagan). He is the cousin of former Ohio State punter Andy Groom.
